In April of this year, the United States federal government reached a $520 million settlement with pharmaceutical manufacturer AstraZeneca, resolving allegations of the company’s illegal marketing of the antipsychotic drug Seroquel. Headquartered in Delaware, AstraZeneca now faces lawsuits from more than 25,000 people, most of them claiming that Seroquel caused then Diabetes. Denying allegations of perks and kickbacks to doctors, AstraZeneca stated the settlement was reached in order to avoid a long, drawn-out legal battle.
